Grind the beans for French press which needs coarser grounds. Now measure the ground for making coffee. The measurement is given below:

  • 8 ounces with one cup of water which means 2 tablespoons of beans.
  • 16 ounces with two cups of water which is measured in ¼ cup of beans
  • 32 ounces with four cups of water that means a ½ cup of beans.

Step #2

In this step, you boil the water using either your kitchen stove or in an electric heater.

Remember that you need hot water not boiling water for the coffee. So after boiling, you should cool it for around 1 minute.

Step #3

Put the exact amount of coffee ground in your French press brewer and add some water. You should put water accurately.

General rule of thumb is, if you put 35-gram ground put 70 grams of water.

Now stir it properly with a wooden stick to mix the bean in the water properly. After mixing it for 30 seconds put the rest of the water in the jar.

Step #4

After mixing the coffee correctly, put the rest of the hot water in the jar.

Now it’s time to wait; you have to wait for 4 to 4.5 minutes so that the entire coffee ground gets mixed with the water. Cover the jar with its lid.

Step #5

After 4 to 5 minutes you have to press the plunger to the bottom of the jar. Do it slowly so that the coffee doesn’t come out of the French press pot. Also, if the coffee is still hot the pot might break because of the heat.

The plunger takes all the coarse coffee ground down at the bottom and leaves the prepared coffee at the top.

Step #6

Finally, pour the coffee into a cup, and it will be ready to drink.

If you want, you can add sugar according to your taste. After pouring all the coffee from the jar, do use a cleaning brush to clean it so that the coffee doesn’t make it difficult to clean. As we all know coffee stain is really difficult to get rid of

Point to Be Noted!

  • If you don’t want to drink the entire coffee, keep it in some flask so that it remains hot. If you leave the coffee in the French press, it will sit on the ground and will make it bitter to drink.
  • Warming your pot will provide you with a better taste. Rinse some hot water on the jar so that it gets cleaned and the jar becomes warm.
